Cedar Drug and Gift is now able to offer compounding for preparing your compounded medication prescriptions. Compounding is the art of creating medications that are specific to your needs. Compounding is personalized medication therapy. We have the ability to produce products such as creams, capsules, suspensions (oral liquids), ointments, troches, lollipops, suppositories, lip balm and more that are individually made for you! With cutting edge, updated equipment, we are able to process and produce your specialty medication in a timely and effective manner. We are excited to offer more accessible options to your prescription medication needs through our compounding service.

Compounded Products

Creams

Compound creams are made by combining several ingredients together. It is directly applied to the affected area of the skin.

Capsules

Compounding capsules allow us the ability to customize a medication more easily compared to tablets by personalizing a dose strength or by including or excluding other ingredients.

Suspensions

Compounded suspensions or oral liquids can provide a formulation that is easier to take for those who have difficulty swallowing tablets/capsules. And can be flavored to make a medication more palatable.

A compounded ointment is a prepared medication that has a thick oil base meaning they have a higher concentration of oil compared to creams.

Troches

Compounded troches are a small, medicated lozenge/tablet that easily dissolves in the mouth. This route of administration makes it easier for medications to enter the body by entering directly into the bloodstream.

Lollipops

Compounded lollipops are a unique dosage form designed to keep medications localized in the mouth. These may be used to help alleviate pain from canker sores, a sore throat, among other uses.

Suppositories

Compounded suppositories are a dosage form which contains medication intended to be inserted rectally or vaginally to deliver the medication directly to that area, or throughout the body.
